How to remove paints stain from your carpet

Painting could be quite tasking. It could spill over, drop or splash leaving your clothes andcarpets messy. When addressing how to remove paints from your carpets, you should first ascertain the paint type i.e. if it is water-based or oil-based. You would know this easily by reading the label at the paint can.  Also follow the clean-up instructions.  The next is to know your carpet type. Knowledge of these key things would help you choose the best solution to tackle the paint stains on your carpet.

 Essential things needed include:

ü A  dull Knife or Spoon

ü Soapy water/ Acrylic paint

ü Varnish remover

ü  Sponge

ü Alcohol

ü  Towel

Steps to follow to remove water-based stains from carpets include:

1.      Use a dull spoon or knife to remove the paints stains from the carpets rigorously.

2.     Blotting the stain with an absorbent cloth and leaving the satin moist would generate best results but if the paint has already dried up, the next thing would be to brush off more paint stains.

3.     Apply soapy water or you can use acrylic paint with varnish remover. This would make the stains soften. Then you can use the dull knife or spoon to remove as much stains as possible.

4.     Use soapy water or an acrylic paint and varnish remover to soften stains then use a dull knife or spoon to remove as much as possible ( For large spills, water should be used to saturate  the stains then lay towels and other absorbent cloths to blot the affected areas)

5.     Rinse thoroughly

6.     Stain should be blotted with rubbing alcohol

7.     Rinse again then repeat steps 2 through 5 until much stains have been removed.

8.      In case the stain persists then dampen sponge and apply a laundry spot stain remover to remove paint stains.

9.     Rinse thoroughly.

 Another method requires the use of:  turpentine, paint remover, soap and water

 This alternative would require applying the turpentine, soap and water. When the paint is hardened, it could be softened with paint remover, scrape and then apply turpentine. Please do not use liquid paint remover if the stain is still wet.

 Steps to remove oil-based stains from carpet.

1.     When the paint stains dry up, make use  of a steamer to soften the stain

2.    Apply steam directly to the affected area on the carpet.

3.     Next would be to pick at the paint stain with a needle or pin to try and break it up

4.    Continue this process until the stain is removed. Be careful not to damage the fibers of the carpet.
